Is the Adventist Leadership Hiding Our Past?
Chapter 68

Nader Mansour – 1:06:45

Is the Seventh-day Adventist Leadership Hiding Our Past? Every serious SDA must know the answer to this question. Most SDA's today know they go to church on the seventh day Sabbath, but can tell you little to nothing about how this movement was started by God, nor can they tell you what the pioneers actually believed. Nader Mansour gives us a very good explanation of the truths that have been forgotten, and what we need to know today.

Beneath the video is a paper that is not the script, but has much of the information contained in the video. Comments to quotations will be in italics.

Is the Seventh-day Adventist Leadership Hiding Our Past?

“I do not wish to ignore or drop one link in the chain of evidence that was formed as, after the passing of the time in 1844, little companies of seekers after truth met together to study the Bible and to ask God for light and guidance. . . . The truth, point by point, was fastened in our minds so firmly that we could not doubt. . . .The evidence given in our early experience has the same force that it had then. The truth is the same as it ever has been, and not a pin or a pillar can be moved from the structure of truth. That which was sought for out of the Word in 1844, 1845, and 1846 remains the truth in every particular.” Letter 38, 1906, pp. 1, 2. {1MR 52.2}

“Many of our people do not realize how firmly the foundation of our faith has been laid. My husband, Elder Joseph Bates, Father Pierce, [OLDER BRETHREN AMONG THE PIONEERS ARE HERE THUS REMINISCENTLY REFERRED TO. "FATHER PIERCE" WAS STEPHEN PIERCE, WHO SERVED IN MINISTERIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE WORK IN THE EARLY DAYS. "FATHER ANDREWS" WAS EDWARD ANDREWS, THE FATHER OF J. N. ANDREWS.--COMPILERS.] Elder [Hiram] Edson, and others who were keen, noble, and true, were among those who, after the passing of the time in 1844, searched for the truth as for hidden treasure. I met with them, and we studied and prayed earnestly. Often we remained together until late at night, and sometimes through the entire night, praying for light and studying the Word. Again and again these brethren came together to study the Bible, in order that they might know its meaning, and be prepared to teach it with power. When they came to the point in their study where they said, "We can do nothing more," the Spirit of the Lord would come upon me, I would be taken off in vision, and a clear explanation of the passages we had been studying would be given me, with instruction as to how we were to labor and teach effectively. Thus light was given that helped us to understand the scriptures in regard to Christ, His mission, and His priesthood.” {1SM 206.4}

“Those who seek to remove the old landmarks are not holding fast; they are not remembering how they have received and heard. Those who try to bring in theories that would remove the pillars of our faith concerning the sanctuary or concerning the personality of God or of Christ, are working as blind men. They are seeking to bring in uncertainties and to set the people of God adrift without an anchor.” {MR760 9.5}

That which was sought for out of the Word in 1844, 1845, and 1846 remains the truth in every particular.” Letter 38, 1906, pp. 1, 2. {1MR 52.2}

This quote was made in 1906 stating truth in 1846 remains truth in every particular. Here is what James White wrote in 1846:

“The way the spiritualizers have disposed of or denied the only LORD God and our Lord Jesus Christ is first using the old unscriptural Trinitarian creed, viz., that Jesus Christ is the eternal God, though they have not one passage to support it, while we have plain scripture testimony in abundance that He is the Son of the eternal God.” {J. S. White, The Daystar, January 24, 1846}

“We have no doubt, neither have we had a doubt for years, that the doctrines we hold today are present truth, and that we are nearing the judgment.” {2T 355.1} 1870

Sister White wrote this 2 years before the publication of the “Fundamental Principles” in 1872, which show the Holy Spirit to be the Omnipresence of the Father.

“God is the Father of Christ; Christ is the Son of God. To Christ has been given an exalted position. He has been made equal with the Father. All the counsels of God are opened to His Son.” {8T 268.3} {CCh 76.5}

“Man has no control over his life. But the life of Christ was unborrowed. No one can take this life from Him. "I lay it down of myself" (John 10:18), He said. In Him was life, original, unborrowed, underived. This life is not inherent in man. He can possess it only through Christ. He cannot earn it; it is given him as a free gift if he will believe in Christ as His personal Saviour. "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent" (John 17:3). This is the open fountain of life for the world. {1SM 296.2}

Ellen White says that Christ has life, original, unborrowed, underived. Man does not possess it but she says that it can be given to man as a free gift if he will believe in Christ as His personal Saviour and that is because the Father gave life, original, unborrowed, underived to Him.

All things Christ received from God, but He took to give. So in the heavenly courts, in His ministry for all created beings: through the beloved Son, the Father's life flows out to all; through the Son it returns, in praise and joyous service, a tide of love, to the great Source of all.” {DA 21.2}

The Father gave all things to the Son which includes life, original, unborrowed, underived which is the Father’s life which flows out to all through the Son and it is given, and Christ can give this life, original, unborrowed, underived to whomsoever He will. That’s clear and need not be confused with vain philosophy.

“The dedication of the first-born had its origin in the earliest times. God had promised to give the First-born of heaven to save the sinner.” {DA 51.1}

Sister White makes it very clear that Christ the Savior was born or begotten in heaven.

“There will be those once united with us in the faith who will search for new, strange doctrines, for something odd and sensational to present to the people. They will bring in all conceivable fallacies, and will present them as coming from Mrs. White, that they may beguile souls....” {1SM 41.3}

“Christ the Word, the Only Begotten of God, was one with the eternal Father,--one in nature, in character, and in purpose,--he only being in all the universe that could enter into all the counsels and purposes of God.” {GC 493.1}

This is the Godhead: The eternal Father and His begotten Son. No third being.

The Father and the Son alone are to be exalted.” {YI, July 7, 1898 par. 2}

The only being who was one with God lived the law in humanity, descended to the lowly life of a common laborer, and toiled at the carpenter's bench with his earthly parent.” {ST, October 14, 1897 par. 3}

“Speaking of Satan, our Lord says that "he abode not in the truth." He was once the covering cherub, glorious in beauty and holiness. He was next to Christ in exaltation and character.” {RH, October 22, 1895 par. 1}

So according to this quote, before the fall, Lucifer was next after Christ, he, a created angel, was the third highest being in heaven.

“It was Gabriel, the angel next in rank to the Son of God, who came with the divine message to Daniel. {DA 234.2}

So according to this quote, after the fall, Gabriel was next in rank after Christ.

Deuteronomy 6:7 “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”

Everyone should diligently teach their children the truths of God. What about God’s prophet? Here is what her son James Edson White wrote in 1909, 6 years before her death:
“The angels, therefore, are created beings, necessarily of lower order than their Creator. Christ is the only Being begotten of the Father.” {Jams Edson White, Past, Future - Page 52 - 1909}

Her son believed as did the pioneers that Christ was birthed (begotten) of the Father at some point back in eternity. He made this statement in 1909, after the Desire of Ages was written and six years before his mother’s death. He also wrote this dramatic statement:
Only one Being in the universe besides the Father bears the name of God, and that is His Son Jesus Christ.” {The Coming King – Page 33}

“Angels were expelled from heaven because they would not work in harmony with God. They fell from their high estate because they wanted to be exalted. They had come to exalt themselves, and they forgot that their beauty of person and of character came from the Lord Jesus. This fact the [fallen] angels would obscure, that Christ was the only begotten Son of God, and they came to consider that they were not to consult Christ.” {TDG 128.2}

Here is a statement from a letter written by her other son Willie C. White:

“The statements and the arguments of some of our ministers, in their effort to prove that the Holy Spirit is an individual as are God the Father and Christ the eternal Son, have perplexed me, and sometimes they have made me sad. One popular teacher said, ‘We may regard Him, as the fellow who is down here running things.’” {Letter W. C. White to H. W. Carr, April 30, 1935}

So Willie White was saddened by people who were teaching the Holy Spirit is an individual just like the Father and the Son. That was 1935 and the Trinity doctrine was finding its way into Adventism. The majority of ministers today teach the Trinity doctrine. Here is what Sister White said about Willie White’s credibility:

“It was also shown me that my son, W. C. White, should be my helper and counselor, and that the Lord would place on him the spirit of wisdom and of a sound mind. I was shown that the Lord would guide him, and that he would not be led away, because he would recognize the leadings and guidance of the Holy Spirit.” {1SM 54.3}

Satan has been so successful in getting people today to believe that the Holy Spirit is a third Being called the Comforter. But look what Sister White wrote in the following quote:

“The reason why the churches are weak and sickly and ready to die, is that the enemy has brought influences of a discouraging nature to bear upon trembling souls. He has sought to shut Jesus from their view as the Comforter, as one who reproves, who warns, who admonishes them, saying, "This is the way, walk ye in it." {RH, August 26, 1890 par. 10}

Today it is taught that the Holy Spirit is another Being and that he is the Comforter.

“After the passing of the time in 1844 we searched for the truth as for hidden treasure. I met with the brethren, and we studied and prayed earnestly. Often we remained together until late at night, and sometimes through the entire night, praying for light and studying the Word. Again and again these brethren came together to study the Bible, in order that they might know its meaning, and be prepared to teach it with power. When they came to the point in their study where they said, "We can do nothing more," the Spirit of the Lord would come upon me. I would be taken off in vision, and a clear explanation of the passages we had been studying would be given me, with instruction as to how we were to labor and teach effectively. Thus light was given that helped us to understand the scriptures in regard to Christ, his mission, and his priesthood. A line of truth extending from that time to the time when we shall enter the city of God, was made plain to me, and I gave to others the instruction that the Lord had given me.” {RH, May 25, 1905 par. 24}

This line of truth would also have included the fact that Jesus is the Comforter and would soundly reject the false doctrine of the Trinity. In fact that line of truth would stretch from Moses in the Old Testament along with all the O.T. characters into the New Testament, Christ Himself, Paul, the Apostolic church, the church in the wilderness, the pioneers of Adventism and Ellen White, all rejecting the absurdity of a Trinity. But not the leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist church today for they promote either the Roman Catholic Triune God or the Tri-theistic three separate and distinct co-eternal gods, the most cruel of all Satan’s deceptions, as it has engulfed the major portion of Adventism and causes all of its adherents to be breaking the first commandment.
