Is Titus 3:4 Referring to God or Christ
as our Saviour?
Chapter 17-47

In the January 18, 2017 Sabbath School lesson we find a dishonest applying of Scripture to try and support the satanic doctrine of the Trinity. It says, “The Holy Spirit is mentioned side by side with “God our Savior” (Titus 3:4, NASB)”

In this part of the lesson they dishonestly misapply the meaning of this verse. They imply this verse is calling Jesus God. But the verse says what it means and means what it says. It is calling God the Father our saviour, not Christ in this case who is also our Saviour of course.

Notice the meaning of the Greek word for Saviour in Titus 3:4.

From G4982; a deliverer, that is, God or Christ: - saviour.”

This Greek word is applied to both God and Christ and in this verse it is applied to God and calling the Father our Saviour which He is also.

Note The Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary by Nichol, F. D. (1978).

“Tit 3:4 - God our Saviour. Or, “our Saviour God” (see Titus 1:3; 2:10; see on 1 Tim. 1:1). In this epistle Paul ascribes the term “Saviour” both to God the Father (chs. 1:3; 2:10; 3:4) and to Jesus (chs. 1:4; 2:13; 3:6).”

Note also Bible Commentary by Robert Jamieson, A. R. Fausset and David Brown

“Tit 3:4 - To show how little reason the Cretan Christians had to be proud of themselves, and despise others not Christians (see on Tit_3:2, Tit_3:3). It is to the “kindness and love of God,” not to their own merits, that they owe salvation.

of God our Saviour — Greek, “of our Savior God,” namely, the Father (Tit_1:3), who “saved us” (Tit_3:5) “through Jesus Christ our Savior” (Tit_3:6).”

Those who have been deceived by the satanic doctrine of the Trinity are so deceived that they often attempt to misapply Scripture to try and support for this wicked doctrine designed to steal souls from the kingdom. Please pray for the SDA Church.
